fall is here! the scent i associate most with fall is apple cider, mainly because i have a favorite mulled apple cider candle that i continuously burn starting at the first hint of fall, and i burn it right on through winter. burning candles add not only a sweet aroma to your home, but they also enhance the mood and ambiance of your space. by burning wonderfully fragrant candles, you can achieve a warm, homey feel. i LOVE burning candles, and pretty much have about 5 or 6 burning in our little apartment at all times. something about a lovely scented candle makes me feel so at home and cozy! especially in the fall. :) although here in the south, just because it is “officially fall,” doesn’t mean it necessarily will stay cool…but now that october is here i feel that i can embrace fall whole-heartedly!
ok so now on to the fun part! :) leave a comment describing your favorite smell that reminds you of fall or your favorite candle to burn in the fall, and i will choose my two favorite answers and will mail you my favorite, yummy apple cider candle to keep your house filled with one of the best smells of fall! i will accept comments until 6 pm on friday. (leave your email address so i can contact you!)

Hey Katie! I just found your blog, and I love it! Fall is my absolute favorite time of year, and one of my favorite fall smells is apple crisp. The recipe I love has the perfect amount of nutmeg and cinnamon – it makes the best breakfast too. I am so ready for scarves, the changing leaves (especially driving through them with the top down while they’re falling!), apple cider, sitting around our fire pit, and comfort food! Welcome Fall! – Jessica (Parker) Davis
PS – I’m having a great time getting to know your friend Liz Dyar. She is so fun!
Katie, where do you get your apple cider candle from? Do tell….:)
Okay, well my love of fally candles began in college where me and my 5 roomies always tried to achieve that “cozy” feel in our small little townhouse. It’s amazing how a house filled thrift store slip-covered furniture, a hodge podge of pictures all over the wall and a tiny little tv could become so homey with just a candle to bring it all together. We would buy the massive 3-wick candles from Target and would enjoy it all season long including all 3 of it’s scents. I can’t remember what they were, but it would go something to the tune of pumpkin pie, caramel apple and farmer’s market. Light that baby up, put on your long wooly socks, grab you chai tea, put in a chick flick and call it a night.
One of my favorite “fall” scents is the aroma given off when you stick a candle in a carved pumpkin. When the flame starts to heat up and then burn the top of the pumpkin the rich smell of cooking pumpkin fills the air. I could sit next to a burning pumpkin all year round and never get tired of that smell.
natalie, i will let you know my secret of where i find these amazing smelling apple cider candles when i announce the winner! :)
I love to bake and cooler weather is just yet another excuse to make fun treats. Last week I made candied popcorn, pumpkin bread, chocolate-chip cookies and threw in a Barefoot Contessa chicken pot pie. I love coming into my apartment on a cool day and feeling the warmth of the oven and the smells of a freshly baked treat. I’m a huge fan of pumpkin bread and pumpkin is probably my favorite scented candle (Yankee is awesome for this). In fact, I have almost burned it year round. However, I also love the smell of carmel apple cider mulling on my stove (I made this a couple weeks ago), vanilla, and love the smell of cinnamon.
my most favorite fall smell is cardomen…it’s just so yummy, i feel like it envelopes you (probably because i usually smell it when i make tea with it and i usually only drink it when it’s chilly, wrapped up in a blanket on the couch).
Hey Katie. My two favorite candles to burn in the fall are pumpkin spice and apple cider. I put a few of my candles on th table that’s in our entry way so that when people walk into our house they think I’ve just baked something delish :o) Of course that backfires because when I walk into my own house that makes me hungry and I break out Toll house break and bake cookies. It’s a catch 22.
ps- LOVE the blog. It literally is charming!
Well, Katie, it might surprise you that I am at the computer and feeling well enough to submit an entry in your contest. My very favorite candle is a red MacIntosh Apple candle by Yankee. It’s extra special to me and I never want to let it burn down all the way because it is the candle that Paul gave to me on his very first trip to visit our home in Charlotte! I think of you two every time I light it!
I too enjoy your blog and love to read all the fun post. I would rather someone else win, so I am not going to even try. I love all the great ideas everyone is sharing. Would love to see you. One little secret I have is to boil a little bit of cinnamon and a few slices of apple if i run out of candles. Love you.
Hey Katie! Such a cute blog- I’m so happy that I stumbled across it!! I’m so excited for you to get this started up. You have a great eye!
Hands down, my favorite fall smell is a wood burning fireplace. I love walking outside and smelling a fire inside the house. It’s so welcoming, and it’s pretty much impossible not to want to go inside and curl up by the fire with a blanket and hot chocolate.
k so I love LOVE your blog and I LOVE that you are doing a contest! So fun!
Since my husband gets giddy when fall starts, I have come to love when summer fades into fall (even though the beach weather is officially over for the year..so sad!). My favorite things about fall are burning candles, fires in the fireplace, getting excited for the upcoming holidays, the crisp morning when you need a jacket/sweater for the first time, apple cider, pumpkin spice lattes, fall wreaths, & leaves changing colors!
My favorite fall candle scent is probably Autumn Wreath or Home Sweet Home (gearing up for Christmas)… both are from Yankee Candle.
Favorite smell of fall = anything baking in the oven that has PUMPKIN in it! yummmmm!
WELL. Fall means many things to me and has many smells. Spices and cider, pumpkins and pies. But I think my favoriteeeee smell of fall has to be…THE STATE FAIR. Fried food and farm animals? I mean…it doesn’t get much betteR!!
For some reason I’ve never been that attracted to pumpkin – but I love smells that remind me of something baking in the oven – like vanilla or cinnamon. :)
